Welcome back, Polk County.
Mike here.
In this edition of The Best Food In Polk County, we're switching it up and instead of focusing on just one town (like Best Pizza In Winter Haven, or even The Best Coffee In Lakeland), we're ranking the entire Polk County!
And it's a big one...
The Best Breakfast in Polk County, Florida.
As always, this isn’t just a list I’ve put together based on my own preferences…
This list was built from over FIVE HUNDRED VOTES, from locals just like you.
Let’s go
Special Author’s Note:
This list leans almost entirely to "diner" vibes (as it likely should), but my FAVORITE breakfast stop is actually Uncle Nick's Italian Deli for a breakfast sandwich and bagel with cream cheese. If you're from the north east (I'm from Long Island, NY) you'll feel like you went through a transporter. The BEST bagels I've had in Florida ... BY FAR.

First Place: Egg Haven
The Best Breakfast Spot In Polk County, Florida

Egg Haven — 301 3rd St SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880
Coming in at number one on our list, and being named THE BEST breakfast spot in Polk County, is Egg Haven (located in Downtown Winter Haven across from Grove Roots Brewing).
Egg Haven took the number one spot by a landslide.
While spots 2-5 were all extremely close, Egg Haven came in as the clear winner.
With voters sharing:
- “Egg Haven… hands down.”
- “Egg Haven is the best, no question.”
- “Egg Haven every time.”
- “The only answer is Egg Haven.”
Like most of the options on this list: you're not going to feel like you're walking into The Ritz Carlton, but the food is going to be damn good and the service will make you feel like you're right at home.
One voter highlighted: “It’s not fancy, but it’s exactly what you want.”

Second Place: Lake Alfred Diner
The Second Best Breakfast Spot In Polk County, Florida

Lake Alfred — 185 S Lake Shore Way, Lake Alfred, FL 33850
Coming in just behind our top spot, Lake Alfred Diner and continues to be one of the most consistently recommended breakfast spots in Polk County.
We didn't ask for specific locations when voting, but their Downtown location did stand out [here and there] among the comments:
- “Lake Alfred Diner all day.”
- “Consistently one of the best.”
- “Never had a bad meal there.”
- “Lake Alfred Diner, no question.”
What stands out most here is consistency: good food, solid portions, and a classic diner feel that keeps people coming back.
Whether you're stopping in for a quick breakfast or sitting down for a full meal, it’s one of those spots that rarely misses.
One voter highlighted: “Great food, great portions, and always consistent.”

Third Place: S&L Restaurant
The Third Best Breakfast Spot In Polk County, Florida

S&L Restaurant — 2915 S Combee Rd, Lakeland, FL 33803
Coming in at third is S&L Restaurant — and if you ask the people who voted for it, third place still feels like an understatement.
S&L is one of those spots that people don't just recommend. They insist you try it.
With voters sharing:
- "S&L on Combee."
- "S&L Restaurant… cash only but worth it."
- "Best breakfast and best prices."
- "S&L all day."
It's not trying to be trendy. There's no gimmick here. Just a no-frills, generous, filling breakfast at prices that are genuinely hard to beat anywhere in Polk County.
One voter highlighted: "Cash only, but absolutely delicious."
Worth stopping at an ATM for. Trust me.

Fourth Place: Fat Jack’s
The Fourth Best Breakfast Spot In Polk County, Florida

Fat Jack's Deli & Pub — 2940 Florida Ave S, Lakeland, FL 33803
Landing in fourth among our top breakfast spots in Polk County is Fat Jack's ... and Lakeland locals showed up hard for this one.
Fat Jack's kept appearing in the votes over and over, especially among people who live in the south Lakeland area and have made it a regular stop.
With voters sharing:
- "Fat Jack's for the win."
- "Fat Jack's deli."
- "Hands down Fat Jack's."
- "Fat Jack's every time."
It's the kind of place you go when you're actually hungry. Hearty portions, classic breakfast options, and a spot that doesn't overcomplicate things.
Simple. Reliable. Exactly what you want.
One voter highlighted: "Always a great breakfast and plenty of food."

Fifth Place: Cozy Oaks
The Fifth Best Breakfast Spot In Polk County, Florida

Cozy Oaks — 1201 E Orange St, Lakeland, FL 33801
Rounding out the top five is Cozy Oaks.
And honestly, the name says it all.
With voters sharing:
- "Cozy Oaks is my favorite."
- "Cozy Oaks all the way."
- "Love Cozy Oaks."
It has that classic neighborhood diner feel that's getting harder and harder to find.
Welcoming, consistent, and exactly what you want when you sit down for breakfast on a slow morning.
Friendly service, a reliable menu, and the kind of place where you leave feeling like a regular even if it's your first time.
One voter highlighted: "Great food and a cozy, laid-back atmosphere."

So here is the rest of the top breakfast spots in Polk County, Florida (in order 6-10):
- #6 — Fred's Market
- #7 — Jazzy's Diner
- #8 — The Pantry
- #9 — Big Tom's
- #10 — Dundee Diner
Which gives us our full list of the top 10 breakfast spots in Polk County.
And, of course, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…
My personal opinion (that no one asked for ).
Here are my top three coffee shops in Lakeland:
- Uncle Nick's Italian Deli
- Egg Haven
- Saving This Spot
Uncle Nick's is my favorite spot for breakfast. It's like teleporting back to Long Island and an experience I can't find anyone else (bacon egg and cheese on a roll, bagels with cream cheese, the whole experience).
As always, I like to save my third spot to make sure I hit ALL of the top ten list before locking it in fully.
Note: I ALMOST put The Pantry at number three, because I love it, but I didn't want to have any bias being that I feel I haven't been to enough of the list.
That said, I have quite a few to try in the next few weeks.

THANKS!
