Lakeland is getting not one but TWO new Chipotle Mexican Grill locations.
The Polk Squeeze found building permits filed with the City of Lakeland for two separate Chipotle buildouts, both carrying a $300,000 construction value and both using the same contractor out of Apopka.

The first is at 6835 S Florida Avenue, near the old Badcock Furniture location. That permit is already in the inspections stage, meaning the buildout is largely complete.
An opening could be close.
It will be the second Chipotle on that corridor. There is an already a Chipotle about three miles north at 3434 S Florida Ave.
Chipotle has been known to open multiple locations on the same road when the traffic supports it.
The second is at 4255 Clubhouse Road in the Highland City corridor near US-98, close to Culver's and IHOP. That permit is still under review.
Both locations are roughly 2,400 square feet, which is a standard Chipotle footprint.
No opening dates have been announced.
We found both by monitoring Lakeland's public permit portal.
That's how this works.
